Brooklyn Back When - Open Thread

We lived near 7th Avenue, so we seldom went to the avenue. I did when I was 14 & up and remember the mens clothing shop on the corner of some street. Me and Millie went to buy these stripped pants that tied with a string because they didn't have anything like them in the women's stores.

I bought my first outfit, with my own money and it was a black and brown velvet skirt & jacket in Lady Fair. I think I still have the jacket, lol.

Me & Mildred and her sister Margie got our first jobs at Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith at 70 Pine Street.

I TRIED TO DRESS LIKE A HIPPIE ROCK STAR.....BUT I REALLY HAD NO FASHION SENSE.....I STILL DON'T FOR THAT MATTER....JEANS,"WHITE" SNEAKERS,TEE SHIRTS AND SWEAT SHIRTS.....THATS ME!

Do you remember those weird stripped pants? They had large stripes and came in blue & white and red and white. We laugh about them every now and then.

We thought we looked so cool. We were hippies after all !!

It's just too bad that we didn't take more pictures during the 60s. I can't even find the ones I had. I will have to look harder. This also means that I have too much STUFF. Need to start throwing things out so I am not overwhelmed when I do decide to move.

MIKE IS WATCHING 24 AND JUST WENT UPSTAIRS TO WATCH IT IN BED HE WILL BE ASLEEP IN 5 MINUTES.
