Brooklyn Back When - Open Thread

Old Goat in FL wrote: I came uninvited to this blog last year. I was looking for people from my old Church, School or Neighborhood. As it turned out my age was a factor though we did find one contact from my Old Church. I do not know any of the regular bloggers except on the computer. Never met any of you but many times enjoyed writing and getting your reactions. This blog has changed dramatically. I happen to agree with Barbara.
It is not my place to tell you what to write or what not to right. It is however my place to say "Goodbye" because I do not like what I see this blog becoming. Since I do not really know any of you, I am sure I will not be missed. :-#

WELL For the past two days alot of things I did not like had been written.Someone told me Silence is Golden and it is!!! So I said just alittel especially today not to hurt feelings. I thought yesterday was altittle harsh for me and today some of the notes written from people I really like were not appropriate as far as I am concerned. See I always put my 2 cents in and I think sometime people on here do not like it.
Umbria is Umbria and I have to correct him sometimes with his words and ethnic jokes. Like I said Umbria is Umbria but now u r right it is getting out of hand. What can I say.....I will miss u so much you are an inspiration to all of us.
Just want to let u know your poem is framed and I will cherish it forever like Barbara Spencer's gift. A poem also...I hope u come here after people change alittle. If u don't i will always remember u and your great post and advice u always have.Most of all that great poem I have...Love Terry

Hi All! I found a wonderful website called Forgotten NY street scenes that should bring a smile to everyone's face. If you click on the link below, you'll see scenes and read little anecdotes about 5th ave. from Flatbush to 25th Street.
There's lots of wonderful trivia - did you know the Prospect Theatre (where most of us probably saw our first concert or movie) was the place where the Three Stooges made their stage debut! And I didn't know there was a 5th ave. elevated train that stopped on 20th street!! But I do know there are moments when we long to go back to our youth. And we are so blessed that we can reconnect with long lost friends and family and memories right here! So take a look at some photos of Garry's jewelers (where our mom bought the gold cross we wore on our Communion day), Neergaard's (where your dad could pick up a prescription any hour of the day or night), and our beloved St. John's Church!
