Brooklyn Back When - Open Thread

We've had a few misunderstandings and a few
small arguments on here that always came to
an end, today too shall pass.

If there is one thing I am absolutely convinced
of is, if you want to tear something down, start
giving opinions on things like politics, religion
or anything for that matter that forces you to divide
or choose a side.
We may have lost a few contributors today and I'm
not too happy about it but I can respect their decision
to choose what they participate in.

Lets continue to have all the laughs we've had in
the past with continued respect for each other and
don't forget to lift one cheek when you fart.

Great idea Giglio .....we wouldnt want to blow a hole through the seat!

Tell your Mom, the next time I see Tommy, I will get info from him. We lived 5 doors down towards 3 ave. from Sal's apt.

I have a really busy schedule the next two days so, I will probably catch up on the weekend.

At those old CROSSROADS in my life again and I have a lot of thinking to do.
As soon as I heard there was going to be a HS built on 35 street & 4 AVe. I wanted to work there. So, when I applied for the Secretarial position I did not get the job because I do not speak Spanish. My heart was broken. It was a perfect opportunity for me. I could walk to work.
I am currently in PS 27 in Red Hook, right near the projects. I work with some of the greatest people and the Princial is wonderful but the neighborhood is so dirty. It is a different world down there.

My present school PS 27 will be closing in 2 years, due to poor performance.

Tuesday, the Asst. Principal of the HS called to say, they found money in their budget and need to hire another secretary and they want me!
So-here I am all settled in my old school in a new office and I know I have to follow my dream but I also feel like I am stiffing my Principal. I spoke to him yesterday and he was very understanding and thanked me for my hosety.
So- I have so much thinking to do.

I'll let you know the outcome, I should know after 2 cups of coffee and a long conversation.

Still recovering from the reunion & the 1400 mile round trip drive, lol.

I can say that if I ever considered taking the trip again, I am going back to flying unless I am staying up there for a week or more.

My sister (a retired principal) always said there's nothing like a good secretary - you just might be the spark that school needs! Good luck.

Patsy - just finished a great book - The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane - by Katherine Howe - about a Harvard grad student studying the Salem witch trials. Very different. Reading 3 Cups of Tea right now about a mountain climber entrepreneur (sp??) who builds schools in Afghanastan (true story and so far so good). We should have a book club!

I am truly sorry I started such a firestorm and I hope you all just forget about it and move on as suggested. Anyway, I still stand by what I wrote and I will drop in now and then to make sure everyone is o.k. I really have enjoyed the board and the people I have known and newly met. So all you guys thanks for all your apologies (not even necessary) and just go on blogging. I now realize this board is not express one's opinion and I guess I was wrong in doing so. I should have just said nothing and turned off the computer. And, Warren, you and I think alike, so I guess we are two old goats. Festina, I just want to say you certainly do stand up for what you believe in. A little stronger in your words perhaps - but you go girl and enjoy the F***** blog! (lol)
