This wind is really bad right now....we usually have power outages when its this bad....from downed tree's and lines. So get your laundry done ...and your flashlights ready! -

~ TO ALL YOU BROOKLYNITE/PARK SLOPE BLOGGERS ~
Having recently attended your 2nd annual reunion, I would love
to pass along my thoughts on the whole event…
In a word ... "FANTASTIC".
To all who had a hand in organizing this grande get-together,
I applaud you. What a task to order the food, the prizes, the
raffles, the T-Shirts, reserving the place itself, the workers, collecting the money and so on. How wonderful that somehow
this "thought" of a few friends from their old neighborhood
grew to such the capacity that it turned out to be is mind
boggling and a magnificent tribute to all of you as past neighbors.
How blessed you are to have found each other to share your
cherished memories of what once was and how new friendships have begun and old ones have rekindled. It was so nice to see each of
you smiling and enjoying the meal and activities with your long ago "paisans" ... did I spell that right???
I didn't know many of you there as I was a "guest" having attended with my husband, Dan Lovaglio, along with our son, Dan, and our daughter, Marlena. Many of you call him, Danny, and he is the
brother to Pete Lovaglio and our sister-in-law is Carol Lovaglio, the Night Owl blogger. I would like to give a shout out to the following people:
To Rose Marsella ... It was an absolute pleasure to meet you!
We truly hope that we get an opportunity to spend time with you
in the near future and hear about "your days" in Park Slope.
To Joe Marsella ... Loved seeing you again after all these years.
Didn't actually know that you would be there so it was a special
treat for me ... thanks for the hug and chat!
To Ralph Marsella ... I have so much to say here about the CD,
so I will go on about that separately. You look wonderful, I
lovedddd your little vette (makes me miss mine)... and just want
to thank you for being my husband's other "wife" ...hahaha....
had to put that in Ralph...Dan couldn't ask for a better friend...
To Mr. Ciapetta ... So nice to meet you too! Joe looks like
your twin and we're really happy to have him live nearby. We
would love to come by and say hello on your next visit to Joe’s
home or you're more than welcome to visit us.
To Ralph & Maryann Trocchio ... I wish you were MY neighbors!!
Wowee!! I heard sooo many people speak sooo highly of you both
and you know what??? They were all right! You have a knack of
making a stranger feel welcomed and wanting to spend time with
both of you. How fortunate for those that call you "friend" to
have you in their life.
To Janet Horan, Georgette and Joann Magnavita (?), Linda
and Margie (Mildred's sisters) ... great to meet you all as well.
Enjoyed our conversations at the club and Carol's house.
To Elliot/Al Diez ... I haven't seen you have sooo many laughs
as I did that day, glad to see you having a great time! I just wish you had ONE name ...hahahaha... funny how nicknames stick with ya!
To Mildred ... sorry, as I am writing this, I wasn't sure of your
last name ... but it was great to spend time with you again. You
are so much fun to be with and wished you had come to Carol's
to continue the laughs...
To Peter and Carol Lovaglio ... We had an awesome time and
are so glad we were able to share this day with you. Many thanks
for a great weekend...we love you guys so much :-)
If I missed anyone, forgive me please. I am writing this at the
end of a very long day but when I have something on the brain that
I feel compelled to say, my fingers will not rest until they finish
typing my thoughts...
My only disappointment of the day was not having the ability to play
a CD that Ralph Marsella had put together with the former
members of his band, except for "Viggie"...may he rest in peace.
I knew the band as The Beaten Path ... but they were also known
as Misty and I believe, in their earlier days, by 2 other names.
Ladies and Gents... you missed listening to awesome music and
songs that would make your hearts smile and your souls sing.
What a phenomenal job, Ralph. When I saw the 2 speakers outside
on the deck I went inside to inquire about playing the CD. I was
told that they weren't hooked up so we couldn't do anything.
It wouldn't matter if you remember Ralph's band or not...this
CD would have enhanced the ambiance of the day. There would
be no way that you could resist tapping your feet, snapping your
fingers or singing the words to the ol' so familiar songs of our
time. Carol said that there is someone on The Blog that puts
songs on there for everyone to listen too. Well, he should get a
hold of this CD and figure out how to put it on your blog for others
to hear it. You will thoroughly enjoy it.
That being said, I had a couple of thoughts for your next gathering....
Perhaps renting a Knights of Columbus hall or something along that
line that would offer more seating for such a large crowd and if you
ended up with inclement weather, it would not be of concern to anyone. Allow music to be played and PLAY THIS CD!! How about Karioke? I'm sure there is a lot of other talent out there amongst all of you or just playing background music for listening or dancing. Just a thought...
Can you tell I'm plugging Ralph's CD here?? Ok, Ok...I'll stop now.
Final thoughts ... my sincere thanks for allowing our kids to meet
their Dad's friends and neighbors. They got to put the names to
the faces and actually meet all the wonderful people that Danny has talked to them about throughout the years. They have already been
to Park Slope so this kind of added the finishing touch to his many memories he's shared with us.
Congratulations to all of you who have reunited with their past
and brought it up to the present as you continue the journey to
the future together.
~ WISHING ALL OF YOU LOVE, HEALTH AND HAPPINESS ~

Law of the Garbage Truck
Here's a nice philosophy towards life - if you can handle it!!
One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were
driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking
space right in front of us.. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded,
and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car
whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled
and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly. So I
asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent
us to the hospital!' This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now
call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.'
He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around
full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment.
As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll
dump it on you. Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish
them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other
people at work, at home, or on the streets.
The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Life's too
short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so...Love the people who treat you
right. Pray for the ones who don't. Life is ten percent what you
make it and ninety percent how you take it!
Have a blessed, garbage-free day!
