hot chocolate and dry wet clothes.....LOL I'm just glad they had fun.
I'm keeping them home tomorrow.....I don't care if the school's are open.

An Open Letter to the Bloomberg Administration

I just wrote this up and sent this to the Mayor's office:

Your administration's decision to open all public schools tomorrow after the blizzard was not a great idea. Here's some legitimate reasons why they should be closed:

1. Many of the teachers come from New Jersey and Long Island.
2. Parking is going to be a HUGE mess.
3. It is still snowing as of 8PM and is not expected to stop until 12 AM. So, despite the Department of Sanitation cleaning the streets after midnight, sidewalks won't be cleaned until after 9 AM and maybe later(more than likely) and that puts a kid at risk of getting injured.
4. I'm a student in college who has one class tomorrow whose professor takes the LIRR to and from work. If I go in to school tomorrow and he decides not to show up it defeats the purpose of me and many other students in college going in just for one or two classes. So if the public schools are open, we follow in suit.
5. The MTA doesn't run smooth as it is, so what makes you think that the trains and buses will be running on a "normal" schedule?
6. School buses normally pick up children between 6 and 7 AM, they have to clean the bus yard and the buses before they pick them up.
7. The majority of the school kids that get free lunch and breakfast SUPPOSEDLY have one or both parents out of work. So to me, you opening all of the public schools is just a babysitting service.
8. The expected temperature tomorrow is supposed to be below freezing and it is also supposed to be very windy as well, so not only are you putting kid's health at risk, you are also putting your school teachers and staffers at risk for injury.

All I have to say, Mr. Mayor is shame on you and Joel Klein for allowing this to happen.

I remember shoveling a path to 6th ave along the Prospect Expy
so we could all get to school ....when we took the 7th ave bus to John Jay

Hi Everyone-saw NYC's snow on national news tonight-wow-you were really hammered....snow here is over-I got 12.6 inches....but Terry-loved the pictures in the slideshow...Karen-seems like things have calmed down-I can't check my roof for damage (too much snow up there) so assume everything is ok...thanks for asking..........i've been up since 4 A.M.when the "quake" hit-so I'm really tired...goodnight everyone......talk to you tomorrow.......bye

Wish I was home like yesterday.....The Mommy and Daddy are teachers and they had to go. My daughter inlaw walked to work.
she walked from bay 10th to 68th and 12th in the snow and she said there is so much ice. She almost fell 3 times....HOW MANY MORE DAYS JEANETTE TIL SPRING???
