Bike Rides
Hello!
Is anyone doing any of the rides I’ve listed below?
Sun Sept 7 – New York City Century Bike Tour – 55 mile route.
Sun Sept 14 – Country Roads Bicycle Tour – 62 mile route.
Sun Sept 20 – New York Cycle Club’s Escape New York – 62 mile route
Sun Sept 28 – Twin Lights Ride – 75 mile route
Sat Oct 4 – The Seagull Century – 100 mile route !!
I decided I wanted to do a Century Ride this year, so signed up to do the easiest – The Seagull Century.
To lead up to this, I’m doing a different, longer ride each weekend. If there’s anyone who’s riding these and would like to ride with me, please pm me! I get a bit bored riding on my own…..

Hey I rode in the Seagull Century last year.
I also completed the NYCC's full century. Two totally different routes that's for sure.
If you want to get in some quality riding you should sign up for one of the NYCC's SIG ride series this spring. I completed the B-18 SIG last spring and really enjoyed it.
Keep on rollin'.

I don't know if can sign up for this so early but I'm totally in for weekend rides. Starting tomorrow (did one already last weekend). Let me know!

This thread seems to have had some relatively recent interest! The rides I referred to were all in 2008. They were all fab, and as spring creeps in, I'm looking forward to lotsa rides this year.
I'm up for cycling with my Brooklynians, so as the weather gets better we'll have to organize some rides.LimestoneKid wrote: If you want to get in some quality riding you should sign up for one of the NYCC's SIG ride series this spring. I completed the B-18 SIG last spring and really enjoyed it.
The SIGs sound great, but they start when its still cold and last 10 weeks, not sure I'd like that. But I would be curious to hear what you learn/their techniques. -
The SIGs are great but at this stage of the game you'll probably have to wait until next season (2010!) to sign up for them.
Yes, you do start the ride series in late February/early March but with a skull cap under your helmet, some tights and the right gloves the cycling can be very enjoyable.
Depending on which level of SIG you do you'll learn the basics of bike maintenance, how to safely ride in a group, how to read a cue sheet and how to do a rotating pace line.
Eventually we'll complete the SIG series by riding a century in mid-May. The same weekend as the 5BBC's Montauk Century so you won't be seeing me on that ride this year.
Howdy, Stranger!
