I found a fireescape ladder in my garden today. — Brooklynian

I found a fireescape ladder in my garden today.

Neighbor jackass doing his cable lines in my yard climbing down from his fire escape ladder. left the ladder in my yard. it isn't attach to any fire escape. but its heavy and just perch in my yard. leaning against his wall.

if if falls it could hurt people. i rang his bell, all the bells in fact no one was home.

took me and my brother a while to get the ladder into a safe position on my garden floor. also bunch of cut cable wires were left in my yard.

i can't believe how irresponsible the guy is. if that ladder fell it would of hurt someone for sure. myself or a family member or a tenant. my yard is tiny!!! the ladder is long as my yard.

right now i'm thinking of just cutting the iron ladder and throwing it out. or just leaving it there. cause he'll have to find another way into my yard.

my other neighbors who needed access to my yard ask me. i always let them through. this one same jackass is the cleaning his front yard snow guy. i'm really tempted to cut all his cable lines. for trespassing and leaving that ladder there.

  • You ought to at least chain the ladder to something today. It could be used by a thief to gain access to a 2nd floor. That happens a lot. Cut his cables too, but be careful you're not cutting the feed to the whole block.
  • na i wouldn't really do that :p. just letting off steam. this lines probably belong to his tenants. the ladder thing, i have no where to chain it. no where to move it too. cause its same length as my yard. so its on the floor right now. good thing is only way into my yard was from his roof. other sides of the yard is fence off.

well if they climb the fences thats a different story.
  • Are you sure it was this guy and not someone from the cable company? The cable company probably has an easement into your yard. They tend to just toss the trash around and climb fences rather than try to get access by ringing the bell. I've seen it.
  • the ladder belong to them for sure, i seen it on their roof, also new lines in their side of the building. the person who used it is probably the cable guy, but they have to give them access to his roof and his ladder for the cable guy to use.

still that guys fault after cable guy is done, he should of gotten the ladder back onto his roof instead of left leaning there dangerously.
  • Well short of cutting anything. Can you get to the splice box? You could do 2 things, Pick one: loosen the connection and see who shows up to fix it (looking for the ladder) or better yet, disconnect his cable and run house current though the cable thereby blowing up his HDTV. Anybody know if the cable connection is fused?

It works with intercoms. I had a asshole for a landlord many, many years ago. The intercom transformer was constantly on fire. It made me the person I am today.
  • i'm tempted but :p. i don't live there to play games with the neighbor. thats why i always try to leave people in peace.
  • Scrap metal companies pay by the pound but I don't think they do pick ups.
