Safety around Commodore John Barry Park
Hey,
Just discovered this website while trying to inquire about the safety of my new potential neighborhood.
Place is at N Elliot across from park.
People on N Elliot seem great but I am a little concerned about surrounding area. Would love some insight to anyone around here.
Also, I have been living with family in NY for the past few years so this is my first time out in my own place.
Would love suggestions for getting involved in local community.

Uhmmmmmmmm I saw something listed there too but I have spent the past year living right next to projects and it has always been very active, a little too active for me.
I am not sure about those projects. I think I saw that listing, btw! -
Its really a great block and the bus stop is right at the end of the street. I have never lived very close to projects- what do you mean it is a little "too active"- do you feel unsafe walking around?

oh that's good, though.
i mean it can be really loud, or at least not quiet ever. and dirty. etc. -
good to know- thanks!

it makes my roommate feel safer to have people out at all hours but i don't like it that much

I went back there last night- parks for some reason always make me a little uncomfortable... this is surrounded by parks. I turned it down

Now back to square one- looking for an apartment in BK is a lot of work and often so disappointing. Looking in Bed-stuy, well, looking all over.
Would love to stay by my family in Greenpoint but I am totally priced out- but you know, its safe, but people are not that friendly. -
LIC / Hunter's Point may be more affordable and close to Greenpoint and definitely Woodside if you would venture slightly further.
Parts of Bed-Stuy are really nice, family & community oriented, beautiful, etc. but it is really block by block. My block now is really family /community oriented but really active at all hours. I feel you on the desolate thing. It freaks me the F-out, too. Good luck on your search.
We looked at maybe 20 apts since July 1st and finally signed a lease one the 2nd one we wanted, but first one we got.
Howdy, Stranger!
