How Sad
How amazingly sad; to read these posts and hear of the violence and the sad things that happen to people just coming home from work or walking around.
The Brooklyn I in which I grew up was a magical place. It was safe and such a joy in so many ways. Honestly, it is hard to convey in words. I lived a 588 Park Place and 1010 President Street. Eastern Parkway was a shrine reserved for Sunday walks.
I am back in Crown and Prospect Heights 5 or 6 times a year. I still see the beauty and the majesty of that place behind all of the danger. I hope all of you someday see it as it should be as opposed to how it is now.

With all do respect brooklynboy3, all neighborhoods go through the same ups and downs. While your hood was on the up others were on the down. I suspect you were probably sheltered and protected from the following:

I moved to PS in 76 and the locals thought we were crazy, they were heading for the burbs as fast as their Plymouth Fury would go. Son of Sam, Blackplotation movies, and platform shoes.
It is inevitable that our childhood memories are based on how small our world was at the time.
This blog is a good example as to how aggressively people are taking back what was lost.
Howdy, Stranger!
