  • the CNN commentators think that McCain has some animosity towards Obama...

    and was completely boring...

OMG! i saw the eagle! it's a SIGN!

did you? don't kid! I saw it!

i was totally serious. i saw it. it was an eagle. on the left side of the back of his head.

but i had to go to bed right after the debate because it was dullsville. (good for obama, i think, given the direction polls have been going.)

  • Obama was the clear winner.

McCain was wandering around the stage.

Let's not forget his demeaning "that one" line.
  • "Nailing down Senator Obama's various tax proposals is like nailing Jello to the wall."

  • During the debate, John McCain gave as an example of Obama's 'pork barrel' spending a 3 million dollar earmark for an "overhead projector" at the Adler Planetarium in Chicago. Here is a reply from the Planetarium:

"Science literacy is an urgent issue in the United States. To remain competitive and ensure
national security, it is vital that we educate and inspire the next generation of explorers to
pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math.

Senator McCain’s statements about the Adler Planetarium’s request for federal support do
not accurately reflect the museum's legislative history or relationship with Senator Obama."

"As a result of the hard work of our bipartisan congressional delegation, the Adler has been
fortunate to receive a few federal appropriations the past couple of years.

However, the Adler has never received an earmark as a result of Senator Obama's efforts.
This is clearly evidenced by recent transparency laws implemented by the Congress, which
have resulted in the names of all requesting Members being listed next to every earmark in
the reports that accompany appropriations bills."

  • John McCain's crusade against pork barrel spending, which is $18B a year, is a fraggin joke.

    Iraq War? $10B a month.

    Bailout? $700B.

Being judicious with pork barrel spending is good, but so is being judicious with programs that cost 39x as much (literally).

McCain's campaign is a joke. I feel so bad for people that care about Jeremiah Wright and William Ayers.
  • In general, I found it amusing that in months past when the McCain camp was calling for eight thousand town hall debates, it was widely stately that those would be McCain's home turf and he would clean up. Not.

Having said that, WTF is Obama's position on nuclear power? Speaking of nailing jello to yer Grandmama. I thought I had it down, but his comments at the debate confoosed me.

Brokaw sucked, IMO. Let the candidates talk. We're trying to pick a dern president, if they have something to say, let them say it.

liberals and especially dem politicians haven't quite figured out their thoughts on nuclear power, IMO.

as non-oil-based energy policy comes to the fore, nuclear is one of the bigger questions. Personally I am against it, but it's something I'd be willing to consider as part of a compromise, to say, give Amtrak reasonable goshdern funding.
  • Flexichick wrote: Did McCain just say that he bets we've never heard of Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac before this crisis? Jackass!

    • Remember that guy that asked the question about the bailout at the Presidential debate and McCain replied “You probably never heard of Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac before this.” The questioner’s name is Oliver Clark, and guess what…with him being on his 2nd Master’s degree…he kinda did

      http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/10/09/1523335.aspx

      From NBC's Michael Levine
I tried to get in touch via Facebook with Oliver Clark, the man who McCain said probably didn't know what Fannie Mae was before the financial crisis (at Tuesday's debate). Apparently others have done the same. He just posted the following on his Facebook page:

How did I feel about Sen. McCain stating “You probably never heard of Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac before this.”

Well Senator, I actually did. I like to think of myself as a fairly intelligent person. I have a bachelor degree in Political Science from Tennessee State, so I try to keep myself up to date with current affairs. I have a Master degree in Legal Studies from Southern Illinois University, a few years in law school, and I am currently pursuing a Master in Public Administration from the University of Memphis. In defense of the Senator from Arizona I would say he is an older guy, and may have made an underestimation of my age. Honest mistake. However, it could be because I am a young African-American male. Whatever the case may be it was somewhat condescending regardless of my age to make an assumption regarding whether I was knowledgeable about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
  • Well, I don't have any fancy degrees, but I was pretty familiar with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac by the time I was twenty two. FWIW.

McCain is evidencing serious foot-in-mouth disease.

As we all sit here making assumptions regarding the advanced state of his Alzheimer's...
  • nah, i think it's parkinson's.

the shuffling gait, the difficulty initiating or ending movement (see: walking around the whole time), the frustration.... is all the upper body stiffness just that, or is some of it gluing his upper arms to his sides to hide a tremor?
