Looking for some good BBQ tonight, any recommendations?

  • there isn't particularly good BBQ in the slope. go to Fort Greene and eat at Smoke Joint. tasty stuff.
  • Smoke Joint's the best you're going to find around here, although I save my BBQ cravings for when I'm able to go uptown to Dinosaur. :)
  • Get in the damn Zip Car and drive down to Virginia, or farther south. Because when you get down to it there ain't nuthin like southern bbq.
  • Jake's in Red Hook delivers to the Slope. It's pretty decent for New York.

Keep on driving until you get to North Carolina. Nothing like pulled pork with vinegar based bbq sauce. Mmmmmmmmm

If you are desperate - you can mail order from any number of places. I like Kings BBQ myself. www.kingsbbq.com

But who knows how long it will be around? See--> http://www.brownstoner.com/brownstoner/archives/2008/10/for_sale_columb.php

    :(
  • Jake's is not bad, but I prefer Blue Smoke and Dinosaur.
  • I'm gonna dissent and say Jake's was one of the worst bbq places I have had the pleasure of trying. Right up there with Biscuit.
  • I think Jake's is okay, but not great. The best part was that you could get online specials, and that's not a huge endorsement. I haven't found any bbq places I love around here.
  • if you go to Memphis try the Rendezvous ,great ribs, lousy waiters and try not to mention Elvis
  • Unfortunately there is no good barbecue in Park Slope. The closest decent barbecue is Smoke Joint in Fort Greene or the ribs at Waterfront Ale House on Atlantic Avenue between Hicks and Clinton. Sam at Waterfront Ale House has actually won some of those bbq competitions in the past.

Well, that sucks. Has it closed yet?

Dinosaur is the best in New York but it's such a haul.
  • drive to north carolina
  • What about that place on 5th at 1st that has all the photos of musicians, and a really good soundtrack playing? It wasn't the GREATEST bbq I've ever had but if you're really craving it, it'll do. And the fries rule.
  • Go to Hill Country in Chelsea. SOOOOO GOOD.
