i'm not sure anywhere will take it -- didn't new york state outlaw reselling mattresses?
i did see two guys with a van picking up mattresses left on the street the other day. they had at least twenty piled on the van's roof, in two piles they were straightening with long sticks. no ropes. it was amazing.
also a tiny bit gross. -

the sad part is those guys who pick up discarded mattress's put new covers on them and sell them as new, bed bugs and all.

there is no legal way to donate a mattress in NY, so you might want to see if you can donate it for recycling.

Thank God. Used mattresses of any sort are only slightly more appealing than used underwear.
