Kids trick-or-treating from other neighborhoods in Slope? — Brooklynian

Kids trick-or-treating from other neighborhoods in Slope?

Strange question, I know, but I'm working on a project that has to do with how Halloween helps erode neighborhood boundaries. Just wondering if anyone knows of an organization that might bring kids from other, maybe more dangerous neighborhoods to trick-or-treat in the Slope or other fancy areas?

  • Yes. It's called the MTA.

    LOLOLOL
  • 1. new2hood, I think I love you

    2. Does anyone know of an organization that might send the surly, hoodied, non-costumed teenagers who are much too old to trick or treat and yet walk around with scowls and giant shopping bags demanding goodies from every shopkeeper and homeowner, to other, maybe more dangerous neighborhoods to trick-or-treat?
  • I don't know of any organization, but it does happen

    :)

It's crowded enough with Park Slope kids.

Last year I told a group of idiot teenagers with no costumes to go dress up and then I'd give them candy. No joke - they came back with masks. I commended them for their efforts and gave them their Snickers. At least they tried. I don't care how old you are, if you come to my stoop looking for loot you better be dressed as something other than yourself.
  • Forget the kids, we need to be handing out condoms and birth control to all these hipster parents spawning child after child in the slope

If you could get them to go to high school, they hand that stuff out there. FWIW. And I thought the whole hipster thing was pretty non-parental/child spawning. Are we not speaking of two separate, yet equally noxious groups?
  • OMG....I laughed till I peed my pants at the MTA response. Hilarious.
  • Daver...i work in a HS and am one of the few teachers allowed to give condoms to students, but some parents have sent back a signed opt-out letter stating they do not give permission to the school to give condoms to their child....unfortunately I can not give it to them, no matter how hard they try. Although you can still get free condoms at any free health clinic. No matter what the age!
