I had the same question. No offense, but I say rat.
  • Stop, Raw. That's a cutie.
  • The hell with the plastic poop bags. Save the environment. I just leave it on the ground and wait for some yuppy to step on it and carry it away. A clean sweep and pickup every time.
  • Any one see Curb Your Enthusiasm Episode 56 "The Rat Dog" ?

I agree, this time of year I get my pooches to poop in front of cheap condos. That way the parents inspecting their darlings new investment can heel drag the shit back to Connecticut.
  • not sure if you're still looking, but the best dog outerwear i've found is this brand called "fido fleece" (or maybe it's fidofleece). i like it because it closes with velcro up the back so you can kind of drop your dog in through the leg holes instead of shoving it over his/her head like a sock. i found tons of fidofleeces in itty bitty sizes on ebay. just go to the official site to find out how to measure your dog.

or, as long as you don't care if your dog hates you, you can go for something like this:

also - if you're not a doggy daycare person but you need a dog walker, i had the BEST DOGWALKER EVER. i'm freelancing now and had to let her go, but she was totally awesome and did a lot of general leash training and stuff as she walked my pup. i don't know if she'd want her name on here but her email is [email protected]. (because she only walks one at a time. which is rare and a bonus.) i highly, and i mean uber-highly, recommend her. if you refer to "lnelson" she'll prob know who i am; it's not the most mysterious screen name of all time.

I just want to plug this website
    http://www.roccoandjezebel.com/?page=indexmain
because it is run by caseopele and her mom and we all know how much caseo does for the animals in her and other 'hoods.
I know caseo won't pimp herself out so I though I would ;)

My husband and I are getting very close to caving in on getting my son a dog.
How did I miss this? Thank you, stacey!

RockerGirl77, my mom lives in Brooklyn Heights so if there's anything you like from the website and need quickly, just give her a call. She's pretty awesome and will be so jealous of your cutie! (Rocco is a 125lb italian mastiff and Jezebel is a 75lb pit/rottie mix. Mom is dying for a chi but for now she has to live vicariously!)

OMG thanks - I was actually looking at ordering those rubber bootie things today or tomorrow! I keep getting too busy at work to focus and rocrastinating . . . I will order it for reals this time! :D
  • I'm warning you now, be prepared to talk about how cute Maggie is, she's adorable! And if you're ever near a certain wine store on 7th Ave between Carroll and Garfield, I know a blue-haired cashier would love to meet you and Maggie!
  • Aww, thanks so much!! We'll have to walk up there soon - I will love buying some wine and Maggie will love the attention ;) I'll make sure she's in her fancy coat.
  • Inelson... That outfit on the dog is adorable. I have two maltese and they wear winter coats.. I have many matching outfits but that is so over the top I am tempted to buy that but afraid the husband would refuse to take the boys out dressed like that.. He gets too many offers already when he walks the fluff guys.
  • caseopele, my mom ordered me a Pet Flys carrier from Rocco and Jezebel as a belated holiday gift last week. I'm so excited to get it!! And I fly with her in it next week. here's a recent pic MORE DOGS IN CLOTHES!

    image
  • Rocco and Jezebel are the best. I actually met them both and they are cuties. Mama Caseopele rocks too!
  • Rocker..Dog is just adorable. Nice to have a small dog so you can fly with her. Most dogs will do fine on a flight but make sure you get her accustomed to the carrier before you fly..just short times in the carrier and then a treat.. leaving the carrier on the floor with it open and putting her treat in there or dog toys that she likes to play with so she associates a positive with the carrier.
  • OMG, what a cutie, I want to kees her! My parents are returning from a much needed vacation tomorrow, I'll let her know the carrier is for you. Maybe we can arrange something to get the carrier to you quicker? I'll check and thank your mom for me (and my mom) for ordering from us! :)
  • Thanks Caseopele! I don't know what shipping service you use, but it will probably get to me in one day since it's all in the same area. I just need it by Wednesday the 14th. I hope it fits her! I got the mini, but she's right on the border for weight limitations so we'll see.

And thanks for the tips, veets!
  • I was in Bird on 5th over the weekend, some chick had her little pug walking around while she was trying on clothes. I guess you can bring a dog pretty much anywhere with you in this nabe. I've seen dogs at Dram Shop and a few other bars too. Better than little kids I guess. ;-)

Also, a lot of cafes around here seem to sell doggie treats. Parco, I'm pretty sure, does, and I think that Naidre's keeps a water bowl out. I could be imagining all of this.

I want a dog! (but I prefer bigger ones)

Oh Dave. I'm so sorry. You have unwittingly unleashed a can of (dog) shit on yourself. Please see "What's The Rationale of Bringing Your Dogs In Stores" thread.
  • I saw dogs at Barcade the other night, but my dog does not own anything flannel or any skinny jeans so I don't know if she would fit in.
  • Confession time. I have brought my Maltese to Puppets (only on a Monday night) and I brought my 3 year old grandchild last saturday night when my husband played there. I am ducking the arrows right now but I have to tell you that the dog and the kid did essentially the same thing... sat on my lap and were quiet and listened to the music. Of course the kid and the dog have been trained to sit and listen to music because they are in my life and hear plenty of it.

    Translation....
Have you guys read the reviews on Citysearch? Apparently there have been sighting of dogs escaping from this storefront. One of the employees at Petland claims he witnessed a doggie prisoner escape. It is so dark in there! I would not trust this facility if I were in need of a boarding option for my pet.

(Seriously... perhaps English as a 2nd or 3rd language for the OP.)

p.s. I have never checked out Dog Den so the above is only translation and not personal opinion.
  • Oscar used to go to Dog's Den. My only complaint about them is they charge too much. I loved being able to log onto their webcam at various points in the day to watch Oscar play.

if you're going to translate, might as well make it an annotated version:

note: today's 3 endorsements of one dog parlor over another (here and on one other thread) represent doggie718's only posts on brooklynian to date.

just something to keep in mind.
  • Sweet Tea... I notice that now and I get your point.
