Prospect Heights: are we the Sloppy Seconds?

Ditmas is an amazing neighborhood. Had my wife and I not bought in Prospect Heights, we probably would have chosen Ditmas Park. The houses are beautiful and, as you said, that area is very diverse ethnically. I look forward to seeing Cortelyou Road get more businesses like Picket Fence. A nice start would be for someone to rent the old Cornserstone space and open a place a al Pete's Waterfront Ale House or Tavern on Dean. Talk about a business that would be wildly successful!
Andy, how about expanding the board to include "Ditmas Daily"? -
i'm Brooklyn retarded. where is Ditmas Park? if possible, please use PH landmarks to explain the location. I think I understand Kensington (basically on the other side of PP from us, right?) but uh. yeah. no clue re: Ditmas.

Ditmas Park is an area that most old-timers (at least in my experience) simply call Flatbush or perhaps Victorian Flatbush. Speaking loosely, the neighborhood is south of Prospect Park and extends roughly to Newkirk Avenue (though I'm sure that many would consider that Midwood). It can be difficult to pinpoint boundaries, since they seem to vary from peson to person. Cortelyou Road is one of the main commercial strips, and the Q train (Beverly and Cortelyou Road stops) is a convenient way to get there. It's a mixture of large houses with sweeping front porches - there are also many co-op buildings. Plus, there's a food co-op that is open to the public.

This is now officially known as the doctrine of "Intelligent Gentrification"...
Old school? Fuck that man, we were single celled! I had this kick ass bit of rock, but then these yuppie lung-fish started waddling in on their fancy-pants fin-legs and drove up the cost of everything. I tried dividing myself a few times to share the rent, but then one of me mutated and became a total dick to be around. It's all those damned lung-fishes' fault. If they hadn't moved in then those hairy-assed mammals wouldn't have shown up. Now this place is so lame.
