Why must the model always be the only one in the room naked? If you've ever modeled you know it can make you feel pretty self-conscious no matter how many times you’ve done it or how much of an exhibitionist you are. This six-week ongoing workshop offers artists the opportunity to sharpen their drawing skills while enjoying the experience of social nudity in a safe, comfortable environment--and make the models feel more comfortable in the process! So let out your inner exhibitionist and see what it’s like being naked with other people in a non-sexual context; all while practicing your art in a relaxing, meditative atmosphere. Every shape and size welcome!
The 2-hour sessions are held Sundays from 6-8pm in a private home studio in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Space is limited to ten participants with a more-or-less equal balance of men and women (usually more women). There is music and refreshments, a comfortable homey environment, different models from week to week (mostly female) and experienced artists as well as beginning artists in attendance. Conversation, like clothing, is optional. Bring your own drawing materials and towel to sit on. Any medium is OK as long as it doesn’t make a mess that you cannot completely clean up or disrupt the other artists. Generally we use pencil, pen, conte crayons, pastels, charcoal, etc. Easels are provided. There is no formal instruction but there are usually some very talented artists in attendance providing inspiration and useful tips. The sessions start with a series of quick poses that get progressively longer, finishing with a one-hour pose.
If you are interested, please reply by email with a little bit of information about yourself and any questions you have. It’s not required, but if you have any photos of your artwork handy, please include them. Not only are we curious to see your art but we also try to ensure that interested people really are artists with some degree of experience and skill--not that you have to be a great artist or even a good artist, but you must be SOME kind of an artist and not just someone looking for cheap thrills (NOTE: Social nudity can help promote a unique sense of closeness to people and be a very pleasant, liberating experience, but if you are seeking sexual thrills you will be disappointed. The same rules of social interaction apply as normally do among the clothed.).
Only people who sound like they would fit into the group will get a reply.
Thanks for your interest!

I'm excited about this! Now that summer is over and it's 20° F, I'm eager to rip all my clothes off and sit still in a chilly room.
If this class is a success, let's do the next one outside in January.
P.S. Since I don't know how to draw, I'm bringing my video camera. -
I was going to respond that this would be perfect for Raw, but I thought it was just too obvious.
Howdy, Stranger!
