As the economy goes south so does the behavior of the criminal element. More than 2500 dogs a year are stolen from light poles and bike racks as their owners go shopping. Please DO NOT tie your dog outside unattended.

DOGNAPPING attempts on the West Side, Manhattan

There have been reports of attempts to steal dogs from their owners, by a man on a bicycle. The police think that this involves a man on a bicycle, who uses a razor blade to slice through a leash, and grab the animal - then uses another member to ransom the dog to the owner.

There have been at least 4 attempts recently on the West Side that the police are aware of.

The latest incidents involved a Male, wearing a Hoodie, on a bicycle.

Please stay alert, and report anything suspicious to the police.
