Oh! I am just recovering so I feel your pain. I seem to recall Song was good? Personally, I say you get that BF to buy some excellent sharp cheddar and bread and make you a hot grilled cheese and order a spicy egg fu young or something.
-
are we talking about the same BF? he doesn't cook. ;-(
-
Awww - feel better Potter. Miso always does it for me when I feel like crap.
-
Sorry you're not feeling well...if your apartment was like freezing like mine then no nasty germs could possibly survive!!
Back on topic...tomato soup and grilled cheese sounds sooo good to me right now. i have no suggestions on where to order from, so I'm really of no actual help. Sorry.
EDITED to add that I hope you feel better soon -
damn. back to soup hunt
-
if i was anywhere near you I would bring you some soup.
I always crave thai food when I'm sick- usually a soup and noodle dish (spicy tofu pad thai!) Wantana rules as you know and thai tony's is open a little later. -
i'm not a thai tony's fan... too greasy.
i ordered chili and a grilled cheese from windsor cafe. while i would have liked some creamy soup, i couldn't find any. and i trust windsor to get me a nice grilled cheese. -
In the future when you're sick, print this out and put it in BG's face:
Take two pieces of bread.
Add cheese.
Butter each side of the bread.
Put on frying pan, medium heat.
When brown on each side, remove and put on plate.
It's barely cooking. He can add a can of campbell's tomato soup (preferably with milk, 2% if you prefer) and he's in like flint. -
this thread inspired me to make the closest thing I have for a grilled cheese- a quesadilla. It did not scratch the cheese-sammie itch. Thanks a lot, potter.
-
lol, voodoo, but he's at work. i'll make sure he makes me cocoa when he gets home.
sorry carmen.
now i ate too much and i want to die. -
maybe, I'm a sloper ,will lend you some of his hot water bottles to keep you warm
-
bg will keep me warm, not worried

can you give me the medical source for this? and if the source is real, does it count for colds AND everything else or just colds. -
depends what type of sick. dairy produces mucous, so if you are snotty, don't eat cheese and milk. if boogers are not your issue, go right ahead
-
again, miss flexi, i think this is a fallacy up there with "your colon is filled with 10 pounds of poison"... medical. source.

It just adds to the discomfort. I don't think it creates more mucus, but it lays on top of the mucus you have, thereby making it thicker and uncomfortable and harder to get rid of.
As a singer, I've had a camera stuck up my nose and down my throat (in search of dreaded nodes!). I know TOO much about throat stuff. Hit meh! -
how come i didn't know you're a singer?

Cause I'm super modest. I'm famous in Japan and the outer regions of Mongolia. Oh, and in my own mind, natch. -
Since I am still drunk from last night I took the time to google it and there are different answers but mainly that yes, dairy causes more mucus - my fave is that "dairy is mucogenic." If you have a stuffed or runny nose or sore throat, stay away from the cheese!!!!!!!

my allergist and my acupuncturist both tell me so. I guess they learned that in training, but I personally cannot cite the source.
I have a lot of sinus problems, so I know from mucous.
This "10 pounds of poison" thing is nothing I ever heard before. -

Park Cafe on 7th Ave by Union St makes a decent matzoh ball soup. If they added fresh dill it would be killer. I'm also a fan of their grilled cheeses with double bacon. They're one of the few places I've been in all 50 states who make their bacon fresh to order.

who is that directed to? Potter? I want to see the whole series. -
I thought it was mine. Man do I feel humbled. Now I have to delete my last response.

idlewild, do you need affirmations today?
-
I also thought (and still think) it was Idlewild's.
While we're on the subject, Idlewild, what's a "varmit"? -

Affirmative. And one duck egg.
Howdy, Stranger!
