Buy in Brooklyn! Cool event happening on December 4th and 11th.

Snowflake Celebration: Shop Local, Shop Late events feature special offers, extended hours

"The Park Slope Chamber of Commerce and the Buy in Brooklyn campaign are putting on the Second Annual Snowflake Celebration this December, and this time around, it's going to be twice as nice!

On the first two Thursdays of the month, December 4th and December 11th, more than 120 participating businesses throughout Park Slope will stay open late ('til 10 p.m.!) and offer special promotions -- maybe a sale, a freebie or raffle, a nosh or a complimentary beverage.

Visit BuyinBrooklyn.com for a list of participating merchants and restaurants and their special offers, and for more information. And remember, shopping locally supports our community, keeps dollars in the local economy, and shrinks your carbon footprint, to boot. So buy in Brooklyn!"

YES - fantastic! So much better than I thought it would be -- I was braced for didactic, preachy, preaching to the choir etc. but it was none of that. Really thoughtful and forgiving, nuanced and smart.
