After hours vet list

I've only had a pet in NYC for less than a year and wanted to get a list of emergency vets should we ever need it. The small area I came from just had a few vets and no after hours--you just called your vet to get a message on which vet was on call and then contacted them at home to meet you at their clinic. I feel like a bad pet owner for not having such a list readily available.

So, what are the 24 hours places around here or some that just keep really good hours?

Veterinary Emergency Referral Group are awesome. My Ollie swallowed a long piece of twine on July 4th. Great timing. It was half in his stomach and hanging out of his mouth and I couldn't pull it out. Rushed him to VERG, they saw him right away and I was home 2 hours later eating ribs and cole slaw. Highly recommended.

both animal kind and warren street have seen our cat who is prone to urinary blockages. (we usually go to hope.) in both cases, he was not as sick as we had thought, and, long story short, while we saw vet techs and sat around in exam rooms, neither place ended up charging us(!). everyone we dealt with at both places was friendly, calm, and great. class acts, all around.
