is something up with the F train?

ok, my "source" just updated saying it wasn't "down" but took her an hour to get on it. i don't know what that means.
-
it means business as usual
-
in other words, operating normally.

brooklynpotter:
The F train in Park Slope can be VERY crowded on some weekday mornings during rush hour, especially on rainy or snowy days. There are mornings when simply getting on the first train that comes by is either difficult or impossible because of overcrowding. If you are in a huge rush, I suggest planning for the possibility of missing that first F train that passes at rush hour. -
dexter, thank you so much for the information on how to take the F train. living here as long as i have i didn't know these insider secrets.

Potter:
I have lived in Park Slope for 6-7 years and I take the F train only 5-10 times a year, mostly after work and after rush hour. My wife takes the F 4-6 times a day. Excuse me for considering that you may not be familiar with just how crowded (and slow as a result) the F train can be at rush hour.

BP, this is a great website for live info on trains: http://trips123.com/

You can also sign up for e-mail alerts for any line that interests you at mta.info
They used to just let you know about scheduled service changes, but now they let you know about any delays in real time (sick passenger, NYPD action, etc) and then let you know when things are back to normal. -
Here's the latest from the MTA:

Service Alert
Posted on:12/8/2008 4:51:00 PM
Due to someone requiring medical assistance at the Kew Gardens-Union Turnpike Station, please expect delays in service on the Jamaica-bound and trains.
In addition, due to ongoing switch problems at the Parkchester Station, Brooklyn Bridge-bound trains are running with delays. -
Had I known how poorly the F line was serviced, I would have considered living elsewhere. If only I had known as a naive upstate transplant that I added 15-20 onto my commute by taking the F instead of the distant R or Q!

my biggest issue with the f is how damned slow it is between here and delancey. it def picks up pace once it gets in manhattan.
