for whatever it's worth, there is a sign saying ugg will open the 2nd week in december in the old beacon's closet space at 5th and president.

also saw something coming to the spot next to loki lounge at berkeley and 5th, but i don't remember what it was...

  • i'll probably never shop there, but i am happy to see all of the vacant storefronts filling up.

last year, i could count at least a dozen empty storefronts each on 7th and 5th avenues and now there are just a handful, it seems...

really a huge amount of empty storefronts have become occupied over the last 12 months...i guess landlords were negotiable on rent to try to get tenants in before we are due for a couple years of an economic slump...
  • It is a good thing that more stores are happening. I got a near new pair of uggs boots as a pass along. I find they are just too heavy. I know they have other styles. Whatever.. occupied store better than vacant store.
  • If anyone walks by there soon can they let me know when or if they are open already - I need to get a pair for my niece for her birthday and I went to the UGG store in Manhattan today and they were all sold out. Thanks
  • stacey...it said the 2nd week of december when i walked by on sat, but it definitely seemed as though they had another few days of work to go, at least...
  • gross. no chains plz and thank you.
  • so apparently it's not EXACTLY an ugg store...or it is just combined with something else...?

  • Looks like DNA is a locally owned place so i guess I should retract my bitter statement.
Fancy looking inside - total change from Beacons.
  • the sign actually says DNA Footwear and then there is a sign in the window about them being an UGG retailer. It sounds to me like they are a shoe store that is allowed to sell UGGs, not an actual UGG store.
  • It's owned by the same people that opened Something Else clothing store down the block.

2 different people own that - one owns the clothes part & one owns the shoes part. I'm assuming this is the shoe owner. Thats cool because they have nice shoes there.

The shoe owner at Something Else has really nice shoes, but the owner and workers are horrible. They sold me a pair of $40 slip on (vans-like) shoes that fell apart in 2 days and they refused to exchange them or give me store credit, they also acted like jerks and assholes about it. :x :x Oh man, do I hate them. That experience was the worse customer service ever. When I showed them how the soles where falling apart, he told me "What do you expect for $40 dollars!" I expect the damn things to last me more than 2 days fucker! (rant over)
  • Wow! That's horrible! Are you on yelp? That's the kind of thing I would post on there for sure. People should know that! Store owners shouldn't sell something cheap and then ask what you expect for something of that price when it falls apart - and $40 isn't exactly dirt cheap for slip-ons!

  • I am the first to suggest shopping local, BUT if everyone is sold out - use this link and pay with your visa at shoes.com for 20% off:

  • is no one going to point out how horribly unattractive these shoes are. This is just affirming that they're not going away any time soon. I need this trend to be over

LOL - what I was trying to say was are you finding the clothes in these stores unattractive or the layout and look of the store unattractive.

Why didn't you contact VANS instead of Something Else?
