Someone needs to start a Pet Ambulance service. It may already exist.
I can't afford it.

I'm pretty sure that would be against the law. Animals are legally only property. I don't think a municipality would extend the right to run a EMS with all the bells and whistles to animal care.
I can't afford it.
The cop in the video behaved badly, but I suspect if he has escorted the people to the vet at 100mph he would have been in just as much trouble. -

Yeah, you're probably correct, but this is one of those cases, where you wish cops would think outside the box. He could have put the girl and the dog in his cruiser and transported them with lights and sirens to the clinic and asked the guy to meet him there and keep to the speed limit. If he wanted to ticket the guy he could have done it at the clinic. Part of being a police officer is supposed to be helping people in need, and these folks clearly needed his help, not a ticket. -

Agreed, that would of been the best solution. Actually would of made him a hero instead of an asshole. -
I saw this clip last night on some TV news tabloid show.
I hope this cop is aware of all the backlash thats happening so he knows how insensitive and inappropriate his acitons were. -
That officer, IMHO, was way out of line! Once he saw that the dog was actually in distress in the vehicle, he could have - and should have - either let the guy go or better yet, escorted him to the emergency clinic and then he could have issued a summons. He used no judgement or discretion - he really acted in a horrible, callous and inappropriate manner!

Yeah, that cop would have had to chase my ass. He could fucking arrest me there after my dog was at the vet's office.
-
I won't even watch this because I know it will piss me off. Karma will get him.
-
ouch.
I can see both sides.
1: the pet is very important to your life
2: The cop see's someone speeding at over 100mph, endangering human lives (and their own) for a dog.
However, like everyone has said, his comments were out of line and letting the person go with a warning would have been the best choice. Hell, if it was a slow night, escort the guy so traffic wouldnt get in the way.
While I dont think the guy should be fired, a week suspension without pay would be appropriate.
Howdy, Stranger!
