Athena on 6th/14th

The deadly dumps and pets' pets are probably a more entertaining line of conversation, but since I'm here:
Been to Athena once for brunch (has shish kebabs), and enjoyed it thoroughly. Hope to go again soon to try more things. Seems very quiet there - hope they don't go away before they develop a clientele. Quiet neck of the woods = little foot traffic.
Now that we have greek, all we're missing in the area is caribbean food.
(I know, there are a million other types missing, like persian, anything west african, and it's been a while since I've seen an iniut restaurant) -

So this appears to be a legit, solid Greek place. I picked up a menu last time I was in the South Slope. Am going to have to make a trip there for a meal. I don't ask for much with my Greek places.....some solid small dishes I can piece together and make a good meal out of is fine by me. Helios can't even do that, when they're even open....

There was almost a Jamaican place which opened up next to Miriam on 5th, but that never seemed to get past signage. Bummer. Enough places on the fringes of the neighborhood, though... -
I ordered dinner delivered from Athena tonight. My wife and I love Greek food and have eaten at Greek restaurants, from the least expensive to the ridiculous, all over Manhattan and Astoria and Bay Ridge, not to mention Athens and Santorini and various hamlets in the Pelopennese.
Needless to say, dinner wasn't the finest we ever had. But I'm posting here to say it was pretty damn good. We had Avgolemono soup, lamb with orzo (Arni Iouvetsi), and salmon with lentils and spinach. The only part of the meal that was subpar was the hummos they sent with the pita bread. Given that both bread and hummos were free, I'm not inclined to complain.
When I opened the bag to remove the food I discovered that they had neglected to send the soup. I called them and asked them to deduct the cost of the soup from the bill.
They were extremely nice. They sent the soup over separately, and told me they would deduct the cost from the bill.
I will be back there, either in person or via delivery.
Howdy, Stranger!
