damn it all to hell!
I found some Olay face wash clothes in my cabinet (did I mention I buy a LOT of product? that sometimes I don't even remember what I've bought????) and started using them 2 days ago. I thought "wow....my face feels really clean...Maybe the reason I was getting pimples is because I wasn't washing as thoroughly as I thought".
Well...........bam!......3 more honkin' pimples today.
motherfuckers!
the Mario Badescu stuff is now ordered and on the way -
I use Clean and Clear's spot cream Persagel. It's benzoil peroxide - the same stuff as Rx but not as strong. When I get one, I dot some on and sleep in it and it never gets bad, just goes away. Don't use too much or it will dry you out. It's cheap too.

a girl friend of mine swears by mario badescu.
my mom always told me that she used toothpaste -
the badescu stuff arrived today. fingers crossed

I have 2 fav moisturizers which are not too pricey. Not sure how they'll do on your skin as you said you are dry.
Day = Eucerin Q10 lotion
Night = Eucerin Q10 cream (plus, it smells like cupcake frosting) -

I'm oily. But oily = less wrinkles!
I've been using a sample of some crap I got from Bath and Body Works and its not too bad. But I need something that won't gunk up my pores. -

Give this shot, then. About $10-12 each at drugstores. I find the night one a little too thick for daytime. Daytime (and maybe nighttime, thought not sure ) have SPF too. -

Duffy's Sis turned me on to Juice Beauty products and OMG- my skin has never been better. I've been using it for 3 or 4 months now and I can honestly say my skin is the best it has been my entire life (and I've been getting adult acne as well, worse than when I was a teen!)

I use the cleansing milk twice daily, the green apple peel once a week and the hydrating mist a few times a day. I love love love it. -

Mario Badescu is my new boyfriend. I'm going to sleep with him every night!
Seriously.....major improvement on the few stubborn chin pimples -
Flexi, I'm glad you like the Mario Badescu products! Don't overuse the drying lotion, it is really drying.

Thanks again for the recommendation. I guess that's why they call it "drying lotion"

Eh. I'm out of love with Mario. I keep getting pimples on my chin (it's like whack-a-mole...one starts to go away and another pops up), and the main 2 are still hanging on.
I've cleaned off the phone with witch hazel and did that 2x during the day. -
too late for me to catch up fully on this thread. get plain old toothpaste (the kind that's white and goopy) and dab it on. that'll dry them out. use preparation-h to reduce swelling and redness. toothpaste at night, PH in the AM. keep skin adequately exfoliated AND hydrated (water and moisturizer).
cluster attacks are always smart. -
I'm late on this i know ... but I have to agree with alafairnadia ... toothpaste! works everytime ... miracle!

Washing my face less has done wonders for my skin. I guess my oily younger days are over and washing like I did then, was making my skin too dry, which leads to more problems.
During a surge in our hiking activities on weekends a year or so ago, I often went a couple of days without a bath. I just used face wipes to wipe off dirt in the evenings and lotion with sunscreen for protection and my skin started getting better. Since then I've cut down to only washing my face in my once a day bath (although in the winter I have to skip that occasionally b/c my skin is so painfully dry.) If my face feels dirty, maybe from lots of dog kisses in the park, I use a cotton pad with some sea breeze or similar product in the evening or a damp cloth.
In the morning I use this alpha hydroxy acid as a treatment and moisturizer. I think it's helped get rid of a lot of the little bumps.

Sometimes at night I put on some benzyol peroxide plus neutrogina moisturizer. -
my skin has never been better in ecuador. and I shower like every 3-4 days here (gross, I know). I use fancy brand face wipes in the am, mustela baby wipes in the PM and always put a layer of miracle salve (burt's bees) on my face, plus something with SPF in the AM. people ask me how old I am here and when I make them guess first (fun game) they always say something like 20 or 22. getting to admit I'm 33 is hysterical. works like a charm to get rid of unruly men.

Subject: for pimples this work for me
i put on a little amount of vicks over and the next day my pimple is completely down. -
Duane Reade makes its own pimple creme which is the BEST stuff I've ever used (and I have tried everything over the counter and prescription). It is a combo of 10% benzo-peroxide and 2% salyctic acid. Look for it in the Duane Reade zit aisle. I think it comes in a very small white bottle. It dried out my pimplins overnight.
I have very oily and sensitive skin, and when I over-zit-creme it and it gets dry, I use Kiehls oil-free moisturizer, which is sold at Bath and Body Works. -
Touch your face with your fingertips as little as possible... no resting your chin on your hands, wiping your mouth.. anything. Made a huge difference for me - I had no idea I was rubbing grease onto my face all the time!

Yes! And watch how you rest your chin on the phone, too. -
