We need to get the cat spayed — Brooklynian

We need to get the cat spayed

We live in Park Slope and are looking for a reasonably economical vet to do the deed. Some quotes we got were sky high. Any input is appreciated!

Go to www.muffins.org to see who participates and then get a muffin certificate. I think I paid $42 for my girl kitten. I went to Prospect Park Vets on PPW and 5th. Not only the best price, but good service, clean, called to check on her, etc.

The muffin cert. pays for the surgery, exam and anesthesia. You have to pay for any pain meds/antibiotics. I think I paid another $28....so the whole thing cost me $70, and was exactly the same as if I paid full-price.

Just make sure you do things in order...find a participating vet, make an appt., get certificate.

    Good luck

one more thing.....I urge you to NOT go to 5th Ave. Cat Clinic (see "need a vet" thread below).

Yes, get a muffins certificate to lower your cost. I would not recommend Animal Kind, you could easily end up paying $100 or more in addition to your muffins certificate. Also, their service is not the best. Also contact The Humane Society. They offer low cost spays/neuters.
  • Animal Kind took my Muffins certificate and neutered by boy cat. I think I paid maybe $10 more for medications. Animal Kind has always taken excellent care of my cat, and I'd recommend them to anyone. Very caring, very skilled and very concerned. I love them.
