Dad looking for room

My father just returned to his native Brooklyn after 30 years of living in Florida. He's been crashing with me in my 1 BR but now that he's got job security, he's looking to find a room of his own elsewhere for around $500.

Does anyone:
A) Know of something like this available?
Know of any resources to find something like this other than craigslist?

Ideally he could find someone in Queens, Brooklyn or Long Island with an empty nest that would appreciate the extra monthly income. He's the sweetest, most honest guy you'll ever meet and doesn't do much but watch TV, surf the web and cook.
