Rally and Vigil against the bombing and invasion of Gaza
Dear Partners in Peace,
Brooklyn For Peace is calling a candlelight vigil and protest rally on Wednesday, January 14th, from 4:30 to 5:30 in Brooklyn to oppose the bombing and invasion of Gaza.
Having been part of Brooklyn's peace movement in opposing the war in Iraq, we're sure that you are appalled by recent developments in the Mideast. We reject the launching of rockets by Hamas against civilians in Israel But Israel's totally disproportionate response - a bombing campaign and invasion of the Gaza Strip has resulted in hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries to innocent civilians and is a violation of international law. It's also a counter-productive strategy making any hope of reaching a peaceful settlement between Israel and Palestine even more unlikely.
We believe, as Americans, we have a special obligation to oppose this war. Three billion dollars a year in U.S. military supplies to Israel is allowing this war against innocent civilians to happen. With November's election, it's time for a drastic change in U.S. policy - one that is more even-handed and promotes negotiation not confrontation.
We understand that there are differences of opinion on long-term solutions to the problems of the Mideast. But if you are as upset as we are by this bombing campaign and invasion, we hope you will join us at a

It is a tragedy. I just wonder where your peace rally and condemnation of aggression were when Hamas started lobbing rockets into Israel a while back. It's all fine and dandy to condemn Hamas now just a little late.

Subject: I just don't understand...
Why do people always blame Israel saying that they are the bad ones? It seems to me that people are brainwashed by the media to believe their views without looking into it and researching it themselves. Ever since Israel was recognized as a sovereign state Palestinians have had a problem and started the violence!
Now, as far as i can tell, Hamas started this whole thing by consistently shooting rockets on a daily basis at Israel and after so much abuse, the State decided to return the favor...Israel has the right to defend itself (kinda like the USA has that right to do so as well after 9/11) At any rate, Hamas does use their own people as human shields so that it makes Israel (who's defending itself and it's people) look bad.
Sometimes, you protesters make me sick. -
I protest Hamas and official Palestinian TV calling on Palestinians to use their own children as human shields. Peaceful people, peaceful partners, do not fight wars using children as human shields.
Howdy, Stranger!
