[size=18]FREE THEATER WORKSHOPS FOR TEENS BEGIN SAT, 01/17

The Irondale Ensemble Project, an acclaimed off-Broadway theater company, has been creating theater and sending teaching artists into schools and community centers for over two decades, but it was only this past October 11 that the company finally opened the newly refurbished Irondale Center to the public. We hope that the Center becomes a nexus for those who live and work in Fort Greene—and the rest of the borough.
The Company is in the first stage of forming a Young Company—an acting company comprised of high school students from the borough. Our goal is to offer serious ensemble training and performance opportunities to a select group of young people. The first step will be to hold a series of free theater workshops open to all interested students between the age of 14 and 18. We hope to involve students from all the private and public schools in the area. Workshops, facilitated by Irondale’s Artistic Director Jim Niesen, will take place from 10 am to 12 pm on January 17, 24, 31, and February 7 at the Irondale Center, 85 S. Oxford Street.
If you would like to find out more about the space, Irondale’s history, or the young company, please call me, Education Director Nicole Potter, at 718-488-9233 ext. 224, or e-mail me at [email protected].
