PM me to remind, but I can find the name of the broker I went through to get my place. I know rents have gone up in the 3 years I've been here, but I'm paying <$1000 for my 1 bedroom that's on Franklin & President, right by the park, museum & subway. Admittedly, it's rent stabilized, but there may be other places nearby.

I am renting a very large 1 bedroom in a prime park slope brownstone for 1650.
This weekend it will get listed on craigslist. I am the owner, so there is no brokers fee (a broker fee of 1500 will leave you with an actual monthly rate of 1625 if you add 1500 to a years worth of rent.

I don't know who this person is or anything about the apartment, but this guy was posting yesterday on Brownstoner:

General consensus is that the rent is a little too high for the location. I've heard anecdotally from friends that rents in all neighborhoods are dropping, and at least one friend is planning to move to an equivalent apartment in the same 'hood for less rent, OR trying to bargain the existing rent down. Try offering $1350.
