Sounds like Mura.
-
eeesh and I saw another one somewhere on PPW I thnk - the hoookah place - also for sale.
-
Yeah, that's Mura. It was hurt by a fire. That's too freakin' bad - I had hopes for that place.
-
What a shame. It is Mura. I really liked that place because it was a short walk from home and they had a beautiful garden and the food was better than decent.
-
dam, that sounds like a fortune for rent. Maybe it was set on fire for some insurance money.
-
Actually I think this is Sakura. Mura has not been "established for 4 years," whereas Sakura has, almost.
-
I don't think its Mura either because from what I hear they are just waiting for the insurance money to come in before the renovations start. Might very well be Sakura as Zebra mentioned
-
yeah might be Sakura..they also have a "garden."
-
That's fine...of the two Sakura was inferior (not that Mura is amazing either).
-
I hope it's sakura not mura- mura is close to my apt and is a personal fave. I've missed it since it closed.

See I am a spoiled Park Sloper. I haven't eaten there because most often if we want Sushi we go to a closer place. Well, the exception is Blue Ribbon.. the walk is worth it. I will have to check JPan out. -
If you haven't tried Oshima (7th and Berkeley) I think it's by far and away the best sushi in Park Slope (besides Blue Ribbon).

Uh, have you ever heard of Taro? How about Geido, even... Not to mention Gen (Not Slope, but close).
Oshima's chefs aren't even Japanese. No one in there is. "By far and away the best?" I know quite a few Japanese Slopers who would disagree with you there. Sushi isn't the kind of thing you can just pick up. :? -
That is my opinion, Obamanut.
I've tried both Taro and Geido and while both were good, I prefer Oshima.
And I was in there last night and everyone working there was Japanese. -
Damn is there any restaurant in Park Slope that isn't for sale.
-

Is that so? Maybe I'm wrong; I will give them a try.

Then I guess it won't become a Hooters. -
I think it is Sakura...which is not Sakura anymore...it's some kind of saki bar
-
Im pretty sure Sakura is still named Sakura (I live right there and walk by it often.) It's supposed to be a saki bar but I ate sushi there 3 or 4 months ago and it seemed to not be a bar in any capacity (and the sushi was only mediocre.)
-
I heard that sakura is now a gay saki bar.
-
Well, I ate at Sakura once. the Sushi was so so.. so if the place is not on the selling block perhaps they would do better as a gay Bar (or any bar) rather than push themselves as one of the many Sushi Restaurants. I have followed the reviews of such places on Brooklynian and opinions may defer on preference you have to agree there are lots of places in PS to eat Sushi... and good quality sushi at that.
-
fyi jpan isn't an authentic japanese run or prepared restaurant either!
it was a spinoff/castoff from one of the waiters at yamato... not quite as delicious either in my opinion... nice people but the food just doesn't live up to Yamato. -
We've been unimpressed with J-Pan too. Sakura does not deliver sushi anymore. Yamato is hit or miss. I miss Mura a lot and I hope they open again soon. I guess I'll just have to suck it up and order from Blue Ribbon - it seems to be the only consistently good place around here.
