For those who use a dog walker, what's the average fee?

  • If you post a pic of your pup we will tell you!

  • He's so cute! Love the pig nose!

$15 for basic walk and bathroom services.
  • Thanks! Would a basic walk be like an hour?
  • Ish, yeah. Depends on how many other doggies are in the group.
  • Most places charge 15 for half an hour, 25-30 for an hour. Some places do single walks, only two or three dogs on a walk or group walks.
  • my local 11 y/o charges $5 for about 30 min.
  • About $15 for half an hour, usually with other dogs. That's for the bonded/insured "real" dog walker which is what I go with. It can be hard to find folks to do longer than half an hour, but some of the bigger places might have more openings for that sort of thing.

You may be able to find something cheaper in and individual on craigslist. I've done that between jobs in the past--walked a dog for cheap. I got some money for taking a walk in the park and playing with a dog.

If your pup is really social with other dogs, you could try dog daycare. Brooklyn Dog House is really cheap for the day ($20 last time I went). The runs are only indoor and kind of small. My dog won't pee on the concrete inside so he didn't like being left for too long, but I know some other dogs that will do that and that really love to be surrounded by other dogs and those dogs loved going.
  • My company (bonded & insured) charges are $15 for 1/2 hour or $25 for an hour. Some charge more, some less, but that's pretty standard. Add $5 for a solo, weekend, or after hours walk.

  • My wonderful ex-dog walker (ex- because I became a freelancer) charges $20/hr for a SOLO dogwalk. She started walking my guy when he was a puppy, helped a ton with training, and wrote notes every day telling me about any newsworthy events such as "He played with that cute pug again!" or "I noticed he's guarding his toys. You should watch out for that behavior." [and then I could call her for advice on how to "watch out"]). She is the queen of dogwalkers. I shout her praises from the online rooftops of Brooklynian!

Her name is Cheryl and you can reach her at [email protected]. You can say LNelson referred you, if you want.
  • we use mobile mutts - www.mobilemutts.com and they have been great. they charge around $15 for 30 min - maybe a bit less actually if you do 5 walks/week.

our pooch gets walked with a rotating cast of other doggies and our walker, annie, is great and always leaves a great note. she even put one of our plants on our kitchen table last week b/c she saw that our guy was sticking his nose in it when she came by.

i also like that you can cancel the walk by 9A the day of, which has been helpful to me on sick days and also random work from home days.
