Open Mics in our Neighborhood??

hi everyone! do you know of open mics in our neighborhood?

the ones i know of are

> chocolate monkey (flatbush at park place) sat 10 pm

> uhhh can't remember the name of the place right now but next to the mcdonald's on vanderbilt... sun afternoons (think it's closed still for renovation)

i'm wondering if there is a weekday open mic somewhere?

It's not exactly in our neighborhood, but Magnetic Field (at Atlantic between Henry and Hicks) has an open turntable DJ night every Monday.

Okay now you guys are making me blush! The open turntables have been halted at this time. We were getting some great people coming in with unreal vinyl, great CDs and there laptops but it really beat up our system. At this point we are not looking to open it up again until we figure out how to safe guard the turntables and system. I will keep you posted.

And now that I have announced that I am one of the owners I would love feedback that you have on the place. I/We take feedback and suggestions very seriously. Especially if we have been at the bar for several hours drinking! (we have been known to start construction projects at 1am in the morning when the libation flows.)

But to answer your question arlington we do have Live Band Karaoke tonite at Magnetic Field (www.magneticbrooklyn.com). You sign up from the list they have and you get up on stage and sing with a full band. They are great even if you are shy! Seriously, I don't do it (because I want people to come back) but everyone has a great time.

i'm biased b/c my band has played MF and is playing there again on march 10th, but MF is a great place to see music. i've not been to the live band karaoke but heard several good reports about it.

i can't really think of any open mics in the neighborhood though. they use to have stuff at the risin cafe and at a coffee place in park slope bu that was a few years ago.

Doesn't Freddy's Backroom do one? I know there used to be one but I've lost track of all of the activities back there.

yes according to the freddy's backroom website they have open mic there on the 4th monday of each month.
