This story has come up periodically . . . for instance last year, Dov Hikind refusing to give up names of abusers, as he seeks to handle the issue of sexual abuse of children in the Orthodox communities of Brooklyn (although this story says he is working with the DA's office now)

NPR is really going for it, on All Thing Considered. I think it's brave reporting on a difficult subject that pisses off a very vocal and private constituency.

  • Child abuse is disgraceful. While the media focussed its attention on abuses by Catholic clergy over the years, other religiously Orthodox communities have been similarly plagued by this curse. Here in the Midwest, even some Amish communities have been criticized for looking the other way as children were harmed by these abuses.

    It's time to solve these horrible problems.
