rice cakes and ramen broth - need recipes

hi all, I've been poking around everywhere trying to find a recipe for extremely spicy chinese or korean ramen broth. I have a nasty cold and killed my last package of ramen battling it.

also, I picked up some silken tofu (soon du bu - sp?), some rice cakes and some mandoo at a korean market in quito I found. I can't decide if I should make some variation on the traditional korean soup that's eaten on new year's or if I should make two different things. or even three.

I have been informed I can purchase no more proteins -- we have like 2 chickens, a freezer full random beef and pork, and a rack of lamb. so, in an effort to assist with the freezer/fridge cleanout, I need some ideas.

oh, and I've never cooked with rice cakes before -- do you have to boil them before, say, stir frying them?

oh right, the korean market won't get anymore ramen in until next month. argh.

  • I'm sure Mr and Mrs C will hook you up, but you can warm up with this video

  • ooh, that might help. it's nice and spicy and if I just cut the seafood, or put in bonito flakes, and add the rice cakes, it should be nice. maybe our cabbage will be ready tomorrow. oh! and I have a pile of radishes. I'm ready to hack korean food. now ... the trick is to get the 'puter to get internets reception in the kitchen.
