Can anyone recommend a good jeweler? — Brooklynian

Can anyone recommend a good jeweler?

I need a wedding band made from my mother's old ring. I would much rather go on a recommendation than just find some random jeweler. Anyone have a great jeweler they trust?

It doesn't have to be in Brooklyn. Manhattan is fine too.

  • We had a good experience at Little King in the East Village. They made my engagement ring, our wedding bands and another custom designed ring for us. I was surprised that custom rings aren't that much more expensive than ones you buy off the shelf... at least in our experience.
  • I'm not sure they do custom stuff but probably know local people who do and they are nice and friendly there, so I'd ask at The Clay Pot.
  • I've used Michael Samuels in the Diamond district. While my wedding band was not custom, he did do custom work for my mom and it was very nice. I couldn't say how much he charges because she sold him gold to make the piece, but we ended up with money back (and we also had pearls restrung, and another necklace made on top of the custom ring) - so prices are reasonable. If you are interested pm me and I will give you his info, plus my real name if you go to see him.
  • I second Little King! They did a fantastic job on my engagement and wedding rings-- both custom and reasonably priced. My parents are going to go there to get their wedding rings reworked. Michael and Jennifer are great people to work with.
  • i THIRD little king!
they are awesome and know their stuff and don't charge an arm and a leg either!
  • I went Greenwich Jewelers on Downtown (just behind the trinity charch) for altering my engagement ring, they were really nice and they did a good job, if you are interested there is the web page
