Finally! Good programming at the Brooklyn LYCEUM — Brooklynian

Finally! Good programming at the Brooklyn LYCEUM

Woohoo! I've seen two shows in about as many months at the Brooklyn Lyceum -- and they've both been really good. Finally! Guess I'll have to watch them for music stuff now too....

Up now is LAVA, the all-women dance/acrobatics group http://www.lavalove.org/
Toshi Reagon did the music for this show. (woo!)
Sit up close if you can -- a lot of the work is on the floor and I wished I had sat in the front row so I could see better. It's on until March 1.

The other show I liked was http://brooklynateyelevel.org/ a musicial about Atlantic Yards and this community. It was surprisingly awesome.

Brooklyn Lyceum: on 4th Ave, corner of President - old bath house perpetually in scaffolding

Brooklyn Arts Exchange on 5th Ave also has some stuff coming up...

BB Tip Sheet wrote: BAX presents the work of three choreographers who share a common aversion to the conventional boundaries of dance performance in three radically different pieces. Friday and Saturday at 8pm, Brooklyn Arts Exchange, 421 5th Avenue, Park Slope.

  • thanks for posting this pitu...

i have to agree about sitting up front with the LAVA show currently on. I couldn't see a damn thing half the time and it was very, very annoying.
  • Their cafe is kind of nice too, and has really good coffee. I haven't used it, but the sign says they have free wi-fi too.
