MYTH vs. REALITY: Community Forum on Atlantic Yards Proposal
MYTH vs. REALITY: Community Forum on Atlantic Yards Proposal
Sponsored by the Downtown Brooklyn Leadership Coalition
WHO:
In light of our concerns about the proposed Ratner Atlantic Yards project, the Downtown Brooklyn Leadership Coalition is being joined by a coalition of community organizations in presenting an information forum and community speak out. The Downtown Brooklyn Leadership Coalition consists of clergy, community activists, elected officials and concerned citizens.
WHAT:
The proposed Atlantic Yards development project that includes the building of a 19,000-seat stadium and 17 skyscrapers. This is projected to be a $2.6 billion development, and it is estimated that taxpayers – not the developer – will foot much of the bill. This is a clear case of public dollars for private profit. Given the fact that there are many instances of this developer, Forest City Ratner, making promises that have not been kept, there is a clear need for clergy leaders and other community stakeholders to come together with concerned members of our community to address these pressing issues.
DATE: Thursday, June 2, 2005
TIME: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
WHERE: Brown Memorial Baptist Church,
484 Washington Avenue @ Gates, Brooklyn, NY
PRESENTERS:
Eric Adams, Bob Law, Rev. David Dyson, Rev. Dennis Dillon, Hon. Letitia James, Michelle de la Uz, Kermit Eady, Job Mashariki, Rev. Anthony Trufant, Hon. Velmanette Montgomery, Rev. Clinton Miller, Rev. Dr. Mark V.C. Taylor.
