Similar topic: Average gas bill in winter for a 3-family ?

Or a 2-family or single family for that matter, but as long as its a 3-story building, I'm curious what your gas bills have been lately, as well as if you have gas heat. If so, what do you set the heat at and what've your gas bills been this winter so far?

Thanks!

  • If this is a contest as to who has the highest gas bill I think I might win. that little graph in the monthly bill that shows you where your usage is compared to other company always puts us at the top. We pay on the "installment" plan or whatever they call it. I think they call it a budget plan.. what a joke. $650 a month!
  • my bill for a 1 family detached 1800 sq foot wood frame house was $500 last month. For a 6 family brownstone building i own....$1500. Thats the price we have to pay to live in the best city in the best country in the world.
  • I live in a four story, four unit co-op apt building. We have gas heat. Last year, we kept the heat set at 72 degrees. Our gas bill for last year's heating season (Oct 15 thru April 15) was $3500 for the entire building.
  • Our most recent bill was just over $500, down about $100 from the month before. We live in a brick-and-brownstone 2-family rowhouse with owner's triplex and garden rental (tenant pays for her own cooking gas, but we pay for the heat for the entire house). We have one of those thermostat timer things that turns the heat down during the day. We don't use the installment plan so we have ginormous bills in the winter and small bills in the summer.

Our bill would undoubtedly go down if we insulated the roof (3rd floor is always the coldest) and if I weren't in the habit of opening a window for the cats when the weather is reasonably mild (i.e., above freezing).
  • about 1k each month.
