We have found a shiba Inu 3/1
he's a sesame male (we think) about 25 pounds. We found him on President and 6th. He spent an hour under a parked car while we tried to corner. He was very skittish at first but he's calmed down since. He is even trying to mooch food off the table. He is obviously somebody's dog. Please call us and come and get him. We can be reached at 917 674 7285.

thanks for taking that dog in. Please come back and provide updates.
you may also want to contact FIDO as they have a big network of dog owners and are often a good spot for lost/found info. Here's their website:

plus, posting a picture would be helpful. there are instructions in "Ask Brooklynian" below. -
Very good of you to take the dog in!
Flexi is right about FIDO and a pic, but also post to craigslist. I think more or different folks might check it compared to this site.
I've seen a couple of Shibu's at off leash down near that end of the park, so it's likely an owner, or will soon be looking for it.
Good luck! -
Thanks for the kind words. We have contacted FIDO and will post to Craigslist. We have already coated the half the nabe in flyers. We plan to hit the rest of the Slope tomorrow.

Have you considered getting the dog scanned for microchip? Might be worth a call to Animal Kind or other vet to see if they can help.
-
^ Great idea! I bet any local vet would scan him for you for free. I hope you find his owners soon, he was lucky to have found you!

i know there was a post somewhere on this board for a missing shiba inu a few weeks ago, but i think that dog was black.
i love shiba inus -
What a good person you are for taking this dog in
-
If you still have him over the weekend and have time to go the park before 9am, odds are one of the other shiba owners will recognize the dog and know if an owner is searching. Pre-9am is off leash hours, and there are a bunch of shibas that go.
Petfinder.com also has a widely looked at Lost Pet free listing.
Thanks for coaxing that dog off the street! -
I'm a friend of the OP - they found the dog's owner. Hurray!

Great News!!!

yay! I love happy endings (yes, I know there's a joke in there)
Howdy, Stranger!
