Daycare in Bay Ridge or Bensonhurst area
Hello,
I am new to Brooklyn (actually moving in 1 April) from Long Island. I have a 3 year old son who will start school in September. Until then I need a day care that might accomodate my unique situation. I have my son for the months of April, June and August before he starts school. I will need Daycare those months.
Does anyone have any suggestions. Also a place that does not charge for my kid to stare at them all day.
Any help is appreciated.

Hi. I too moved from LI to Bensonhurst. Welcome.
We used to go to Dyker Heights Family Day Care. The hours were great 6:30 am to 8:30 PM and the staff was very sweet. It is a true day care setting with lots of running around, music and tv. My son is older now but not old enough for public school so I went to find other options and decided on Stillwell Ave. Prep Extn. They have a main site on Stillwell near where the elevated platform curves at 86th Street as well as several other locations in Brooklyn including one in Bensonhurst at the corner of Bay and 65th. Children must be toilet trained and it is a school environment. They wear uniforms 4 days a week and get homework (coloring, numbers, letters, etc.). I wish the hours were longer (7 - 6:30 M-T and F is 7 - 5:30) but they are also less expensive. I was paying almost $200 a week for day care plus providing food. The school is $525 a month and they serve three meals each day. There are pluses and minuses to both settings but for now I am happy.
Worlds of Wonder has had signs up on 20th Avenue near 67th Street for a while that they are opening a new site. I heard very good things about them when my son was an infant and I had just started to look but they had a very long waiting list. They called me a year later to see if we were still interested but they did actually keep us on the list which impressed me.

Awesome TSUalum, thanks for that info... Those centers are what I am looking for. $525 a month is amazing for daycare these days. Especially if they are providing the way you say.
Howdy, Stranger!
