ABC Radio Newsman George Weber - Carroll Gardens - Murdered

Former WABC radio news anchor George Weber was found dead inside his Brooklyn apartment this morning after failing to report to work for two days, sources told The Post.

Weber, who would have turned 58 tomorrow, was discovered in his bed shortly before 10 a.m. today with multiple stab wounds to his neck after his bosses, concerned that he hadn't shown up for work, called cops.

Police sources said they believed Weber had been murdered some time on Friday evening.

  • I live 2 blocks from where it happened. I talked to George Weber's neighbors, a few Italian, a few not. They said that the water was running alll weekend so they knew there was a problem. Another neighbor said that there seemed to be a lot of people who hung around this guy's apartment (he was a little more specific but I don't want to spread unconfirmed rumors).

I also spoke to 2 detectives who said they don't yet know the day/time of death.

We're all trying to figure out if the murderer was someone George knew or if it was random violence. If it was random violence then this neighborhood is changing more than we all thought.
  • My mother worked with George for years. She said he was the nicest person you'd ever want to meet and never said a bad word about anyone. He loved his dogs and loved his job.

Let's not start spreading rumors about a person you don't know, please. His friends and co-workers are devastated.
  • Watchu- My condolences to your mom.
  • This is so sad. My condolences to his loved ones...

I will really miss that voice on the radio.
