Galapagos Art Space (16 Main St. at Water St., DUMBO ) presents a weekend-long celebration of flight including astounding live performances and video installations.

On Saturday 4 April 2009 8pm – 4am the Space Tourism Society of New York celebrates Yuri’s Night by adding space-themed performances and entertainment to Galapagos’ festival of flight.

Yuri’s Night is a celebration of humanity’s achievements in space. Each April, people from around the world come together to mark the anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s first flight into space (1961) and the first launch of the US Space Shuttle (1981). Everyone can participate, so come and join us in celebrating our future in space!

Meet special guests from the space frontier, play our live-action space-trivia elimination game hosted by Space Future, catch performances by My Robot Friend and the New York Jedi, enjoy a phantasmagoric video / music mix from Retro Future, join the midnight vodka toast to Yuri Gagarin, dance until 4am to our DJs / VJs / live band, and win prizes for best space-themed costumes.
