Is the clothing donation truck still at the farmer's market on Saturdays at Grand Army Plaza?

Anyone know which organziation it is from?

How late on Saturday are they there accepting donations?

Thanks!

  • The were there last Saturday. I know they get there at 8am, don't know how long they stay or who they are, but they do give your a receipt. (If I could find it, I could tell you who they are and give you their phone #).
  • yeah, I've seen them there in the early afternoon too - usually it's Goodwill, no?
  • The clothing collections at Grand Army Plaza are ongoing, operated by Wearable Collections, a for-profit textile recycler, in collaboration with the Council on the Environment.

It seems odd to me for a company to ask citizens to "donate" the raw materials for the company to sell. But hey at least the stuff gets recycled.

The Department of Sanitation's Bureau of Waste Prevention, Reuse & Recycling operates the semi-annual drop-offs for Goodwill, but those are cancelled indefinitely due to budget cuts. You can find places to donate practically anything on www.nyc.gov/stuffexchange

  • We dropped off some stuff a few weeks ago at around 12:30PM, but not sure if they stay until the market closes.
