I have seen strawberries hanging by pots in Jamie Oliver's show. I am planing on planting strawberries that way too. I love strawberries and it will be really nice to plant my own fresh ones.

I also plan on planting herbs, so that I can cook herbs and add
it into my salads, freshly picked.

the cukes are not as bountiful as the tomatoes. Here's the one I ate already:



I have another good one on the way, and 2-3 babies behind it. I took one off the vine because it was growing all lopsided. Super skinny at top and then ballooned out.

Am getting impatient waiting for the Brandywines. Was tempted to pull this pepper but changed my mind for now. It will be better and sweeter when its red. String beans starting to come, but they are not nearly as exciting and delicious as big juicy tomatoes. Hope everyone's gardens are producing like mad and Flexi is enjoying cucumber tomato salads..

My tomatoes are FABULOUS! I brought some to my PT on Friday along with basil and had bbqs on both Friday and Sunday and used my tomatoes for salad. Yummy!

It's pretty awesome being able to give someone your tomatoes isn't it? This is the first year I am able to give away some produce and as nerdy as that sounds, it's really cool. Now I know why people were so eager to give some my way.

I scored big time in PA suburbs this week. Gorgeous lace hydrangea for $5.50. I also bought a butterfly bush (Jackson will be thrilled so he can keep yelling at the butterflies) for $10 and a Russian sage bush for $8. Also, African violets for $1/each (I always manage to kill them - now I won't feel bad) and 6 ceramic pots for $5. Yay!

Now I just have to figure out how to plant them, since it involves some digging and climbing up into the elevated part of my garden. Hopefully my friend will help

My tomato plants are looking funky on the leaves, so I am crossing fingers it's not the blight.

Flexi- My tomatoes and peppers are alive and kicking, although one or two pepper plants are a bit crowded by tomatoes and could use a little more sun. Fingers crossed. No late blight. I'm awash in cucumbers and string beans, so all is good.

Re: funky leaves: There's a number of things that could effect your tomato leaves. I'm not sure exactly what mine have, but I've been pulling all effected leaves off to keep it from spreading. I think its a leaf spot. I hope yours are allright.

You've peaked my curiosity? (how do you spell that?) How is your garden elevated?

I have a concrete yard and around 3 of the walls, there is a concrete border with soil between the concrete and the fence. On two sides I have about 18 inches or so of soil, but the back has a higher wall and there is 3-4 feet of elevated garden space back there. Most of my plants are in the garden soil, but the tomatoes are in pots.

I'm glad everything is alive and kicking. I really don't know what's going on with the leaves, but I keep cutting stuff out. I just need to have enough leaves to keep the plants alive.

I think that's fair...an elevated garden would have to have a peak somewhere. There's probably a little marker: Elevation, 4 feet.

Looks very pretty from Whyfi's photos. The Post (they propogandize, you roll your eyes) did a story recently about high cost of maintenance at the park.

Flexi-very nice. I like what you did with your tomatoes and with your yard. Looks like you have a lot of space to play with...lucky dog! And to answer your previous question, yes, people play nice at the community garden. Lots of trading of veggies and good advice.

Here's a little something I planted for the bees in my garden...asters. Thing is way bigger than I thought it was going to be.

We are finally eating mostly out of the garden. Here's a potato salad/leek dish the boyfriend whipped up and a pic of the lovely brandywine, which splits like mad, but is so supertasty. And peppers!! Hope everyone is doing as well and I hope that Arches and people are planting some more of those cool seeds for the fall harvest.
