The wine store on PPW
So the new owners of the local booze store moved it from 16th street to PPW last fall. That's about the time I got preggo, so I never had a chance to check it out. How is the wine selection and the prices there? Are they helpful when it comes to suggesting wine? Do they have wine tastings?
I used to go to Big Nose Full Body on 7th Ave, but with the little one on the way want to shorten my commute somewhat
, and, of course, support local businesses.

stay away! they have neon lights in the window!
just kidding. their fine. good selection and friendly people -
friendly, I'm not awed by the selection, it's alright, and it seems their prices are consistently $1-2 more than other places - this was true even in their old space.

i hear they are very friendly. i am a fan of slope cellars on 8th, meself. either way, support local is the way to go

They are cheaper than Big Nose. I think they have a decent selection and they are nice. I say shop local too.

Oh no! Neon lights? Forget it!
I do have to say that their renovation is fantastic and it is great that they saved those old candy-shop windows.
I'll give them a try in a few weeks. -
having passed by today their neon lights are kinda ugly.

are you serious? you too? i think more than half the stores out there have some kind of neon light in the front. if you really find them all ugly you must find all of windsor terrace so ugly. actually you must find all of new york city so ugly -
For the sake of good booze, I am ready to deal even with neon lights
-
i think they're a little pricey but i've been very impressed with their recommendations and helpfulness. and you've gotta love the care they took in the renovation

They charge a bit more than some places, but nothing obscene. A dollar more for good service and convenience is worth it.
The pet store on PPW on the other hand is a rip-off. I can't believe how much they charge for things. I only go there when I am out of something and don't have time to make it to another place.
Also, I don't believe they have neon lighting. The only stores I can see with neon lights are Farrells and United (which don't work). -

ugliness is determined on a case by case basis.
