new flea market starting up in greenwood heights/south slope

  • The borough’s newest flea market is about to land in a parking lot behind an Islamic School on 20th Street, The Brooklyn Paper has learned.

The Park Slope Flea Market will launch next month in the rear of the Al-Noor School, bringing more than 60 vendors each Saturday and Sunday to the block between Fourth and Fifth avenues.
They don't give a start date in the article - LIGH, what do you know?
    :D
I hope it's not all tube socks and trashy jewelry!
  • I actually would like some cheap(er) stuff. I haven't been to Brooklyn Flea in a while, but last time I was there everything I was interested in was out of my price range... I bought only cupcakes (which were borderline out of my price range for something so so small).

Agreed that they should label it "Greenwood Heights" flea and not PS, fwiw...
  • I am so down for this! I hope it's some decent stuff - pottery, artsty stuff, some furniture would be too cool to hope for.
  • i agree toadette. i'm a big fan of the brooklyn flea, but a lot of that stuff is way overpriced. just from reading this article, it sounds like this place might have some more deals and finds...

re: the name....don't they call the flea market at ps. 321 the park slope flea market? i agree greenwood heights flea would make more sense, but probably wouldn't attract as many people from around the borough and manhattan. it's all about PR these days...

    yeah, me three.
my ideal would have table space cheap enough so people could use it like a stoop sale
  • That would be great indeed. I kind of need to have a stoop sale but I live on a street less traveled than others and worry I'd be sitting out there all day for nothing...

Plus I like checking out others' sales. Being able to go somewhere and see cheap stuff as well as vendor stuff and more high quality stuff all in one would be sweet.
  • Brooklyn Flea is a laff. Overpriced gee gaws that can be found at a stoop sale. Hated it. Just because some hottie designer hipster is hawking them--along with every duck-in-a-row blog--doesn't mean they're not pushing overpriced stuff on you. ugh. I am still a fan of the P.S. 321 crazy-people flea.
