Community Forum:
MYTH vs. REALITY
Community Groups to Address Serious Concerns About
Forest City Ratner’s Atlantic Yards Proposal
Tonight, June 2, 7pm

WHO:
The Downtown Brooklyn Leadership Coalition consists of clergy, community activists, elected officials and concerned citizens.
The Mayoral candidates have been invited to attend this forum, and Mr. Weiner and Mr. Ferrer have said they plan to come.

WHAT:
Myth vs. Reality: What Brooklyn Needs to Know About Ratner and His Proposed Arena Project
A Community Information Forum and Speak Out

The proposed Atlantic Yards development project includes the building of a 19,000-seat arena and at least 17 skyscrapers. It is projected to be a $3.5 billion development, and it is estimated that taxpayers – not the developer – will foot much of the bill. This is a clear case of public dollars for private profit. Given the fact that there are many instances of this developer, Forest City Ratner, making promises that have not been kept, there is a clear need for clergy leaders and other community stakeholders to come together with concerned members of our community to address the many pressing issues swirling around the Ratner proposal.

The highly controversial proposal by Forest City Ratner has evoked significant concerns within the Prospect Heights, Clinton Hill, Park Slope, Fort Greene, Bedford-Stuyvesant, and other communities. The Downtown Brooklyn Leadership Coalition is one of the organizations that has been formed to address concerns around Downtown Brooklyn developments..
