Subject: Benefit at Freddy's!

On March 4th from 8:30pm - 12:30am Freddy's Backroom will host Sing Don't Destroy, a fundraising event for Develop Don't Destroy Brooklyn's legal fight against Bruce Ratner's 17 skyscraper/one sports arena megadevelopment. Freddy's would be destroyed by Ratner's greedy land-grab—an undertaking that is being fought at every turn by a coalition of over fifty community, religious and political organizations.

Sing Don't Destroy is an evening of musicians paying tribute to George Harrison and Bob Dylan, whose fighting spirit and spirituality continue to move and inspire anyone within listening distance of their timeless songs. The members of the Freddy's scene have come together since Harrison's death in 2001 to stage what are affectionately known as Harrathons. More recently, the Freddy's musical community turned out en masse for (No) Blood On The (LIRR) Tracks, a tribute to the classic Bob Dylan album.

Now come join us on March 4 and hear many of your favorite artists interpret your most-loved Harrison and Dylan tunes, including:

Anna Copa Cobanna (If Not For You), Michael Culhane & Circus Guy (Faster, Mississippi), Alice Dietz (When I Paint My Masterpiece), The Extra Texture (Sheik of Araby, Gotta Travel On), 4th Street NiteOwls (Hong Kong Blues), Fred Gillen and Hope Machine (If I Needed Someone, Shooting Star, God On Our Side), The Great Outdoors (Only a Northern Song, Man Gave Names to All the Animals), Ixnay (The End of The Line, Like a Rolling Stone), The Larch (Taxman, Wheel's On Fire), Liza and the Wonder Wheels (Joey), Mark Abrahams Band (Isn't it a Pity, Don't Think Twice It's All Right), Nine Mens Morris (It's All Too Much/Wah-Wah, Absolutely Sweet Marie, It Ain't Me Babe), Matt O'Grady (All Things Must Pass, You Ain't Goin' Nowhere), Peter Pierce (Dark Horse, Stuck Inside of Mobile), John Pinamonti (Within You Without You, It's Alright Ma), Evan Schlansky (Oh Sister), The Secrets (I Need You, It Ain't Me Babe, My Back Pages), John Sharples Band (Beware of Darkness, I Don't Want to Do It, Positively 4th Street), Erica Smith (Photograph, Masters of War), Hilary Spiegelman & John Laprade (You Like Me Too Much, You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go), Catherine Torrey (Here Comes the Sun), Rebecca Turner & Sue Raffman (Your Love is Forever, Nothing Was Delivered), The Umlauts (I Me Mine, Bob Dylan's 115th Dream), Tom Warnick and the World's Fair (Cry a While, Man in the Long Black Coat), Matt Dolingo, Andy Godsberg, Plastic Beef and more!

DDDB's legal fight could end up costing over a million dollars. Over the last two years, the Freddy's music scene has come out for the cause time and again. Join us March 4th for Sing Don't Destroy, another night of good music for a good cause.
