A Place for us? — Brooklynian

A Place for us?

Any suggestions on lesbian bars in the slope? Catty is gone. I've been to Ginger's once and didn't really like it. I'm looking for a place with a good, friendly crowd and reasonably priced drinks in bk. Will check out cubby in the city this week.

  • I dont know of anywhere other than Gingers, but I've gone there a bunch of times and had fun (as a straight woman, sometimes with straight male friends.) I used to go to Catty periodically as well and the vibe is DEF different (as its more of a bar than a club) but maybe give it another chance?
  • ZOMG! You caught teh gay?? (joking!)

I like Ginger's during the summer days. It's really laid back if you are going with a couple of friends, they have the windows and doors open and it's really quite nice. But I've never been there at night though so I understand if it wasn't that great of a scene.

Yeah, what we need a dance club/bar in the Slope!

LOL! Actually, I prefer lounges and bars. I hate clubs. Eeew. I will have to give Ginger's another chance. When we goin?
  • I agree with the previous posts and think you should give ginger's another try. I have been there a few times with friends and we all really enjoyed meeting new people there.
  • the bell house just started having a really fun "boys and girls" night every saturday.

i think one of the bartenders from cattyshack actually started it.

if you've never been, the bell house is fun ANY day of the week, but the saturday party is a blast. what a beautiful, huge dance space!

  • Gingers is fantastic, been going there since I moved to bk 5 years ago. Definitely give it another chance and let me know if ya'll plan a night to go, I havne't been in awhile.

If you're looking to Dance there was a party on the lower east side at Kion a couple fridays ago, not sure if its a monthly event or what but it was FUN!

  • Once again, this place sucks. You have to come with a group. Coming alone is a drag.
  • aw did you go!? I have never been alone but I see your point. We need to get a group together!

I'll go with you! But I draw the line at wearing Tevos.
  • Sounds good! Wtf is a Tevo!? I tried it out alone tonight, no good. Not social like that. But could be fun in a group!!!
  • TevA. I think Tevo sounds better.

LOL. So true. WTF is up with the trend to wear those? Is it a secret sign? I remember my gym teachers used to wear those.
  • Brooklynbound, Lee and I TOTALLY walked by last night when you were there. We looked in and I started talking about you. Why didn't I see you? You need to PM me your digits so I can call you next time.
  • BB I'll come with you too! Just email me with a heads up.

Not Lee!! NOOOO! Why did I miss this!!? I was at the end of the bar by the bathrooms.
  • I went to Lucky 13. Cool bartender! I didn't stay long enough to hear my Pantera from the Juke Box.
  • YEah NBA playoff and white boys! (working off BB's avatar)
  • Look for "That's My Jam" a queer dance party in BedStuy
    :D
most of the bars I know dykes hang out at aren't actually queer bars per se...and brooklynian is not the best place to be looking for 'em

Almost thinking I should not post this but I don't understand why Brooklynian would be not a good place (o.k., not the best place) to make the inquiry. We have a large enough drinking and socializing poster base to talk about straight bars, queer bars and any other kind of bar.

Veets, previous shitty devolution of threads about queer bars is the key to understanding why I think this board is not the best place for queer bar tips.

    P.S.
please, let's not turn this into a meta discussion about brooklynian. Start a new thread in Ask Brooklynian or The Lounge if you want to talk about this further. I just wanted to give a little advice on the OPs question.
